(Vermicompost is the product of the composting process using van s to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials and worm oop). Scientists used tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum) that were grown for 31 days to measure the seedling growth rate (height and bulk weight were recorded). They divided the tomato seeds into two groups. One group of tomato seeds (20 pots) received a fertilizer without pig manure and one group of tomato seeds (20 pots) received a fertilizer that used pig manure. After the 31 days, seedling heights and bulk weight were recorded. Those tomato plants treated with vermicompost fertilizer using pig manure had significantly taller and heavier plants than those treated with vermicompost fertilizer with no pig manure used.
