5. What are the two main differences between mitosis and meiosis? (4 points)

  1. During mitosis, a single cell division occurs with each division having a similar number of chromosomes as the original cell. The result during meiosis results in four haploid (n) cells, each having a copy of every chromosome.
  2. During meiosis, closing over might occur which never happens during mitosis.
